After an intensive and rigorous selection process involving applications, interviews, and final selection, Yankuba Corr emerged among the 13 fellows from West Africa, chosen to participate in the Kwame KariKari Fact-Checking and OSINT Fellowship 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fellowship, organized by DUBAWA, is designed to provide journalists and media practitioners with important fact-checking skills that will enhance their ability to fight against information disorder and promote a safe information  ecosystem across West Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Named after renowned Ghanaian media scholar and press freedom advocate, Prof. Kwame KariKari,  the fellowship equips journalists and media practitioners with the skills needed to identify false claims, verify information and provide evidence-based reporting in an already complex digital information space. Now in its eighth year, the program has become a key intervention in tackling information disorder across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fellows underwent a  three -day training, which took place from May 6 to May 9. During this training, fellows received an introduction to the fellowship and its expectations, as well as training in important fact-checking and open source intelligence tools that will assist them during the three months fellowship. The fellowship will commence in June and  run through August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its inception, the fellowship has trained a substantial number of journalists across different West African countries, including The Gambia, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. The trained journalists have significantly improved their verification and investigative skills and are now using these skills  to strengthen local fact-checking ecosystems and support more credible public discourse across West Africa. This has helped to sanitize our environment and keep it free from information disorder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
